There are 5 steps in our Application Process:
- Register and attend an Open House. Open Houses are a great way to meet the current co-op families and instructors and to learn about the curriculum in a festive atmosphere. We strongly encourage you to bring your children and other family members along. Open Houses are not a drop-in format - they begin promptly with an informational, after which you will be given a tour.
Dates for Upcoming Open Houses (all open houses are at 10:00 AM):
Friday, April 22nd, 2016 - Submit an application form and $100 application fee.
- Return the Teacher Recommendation and Transcripts: It is our school policy to receive teacher recommendations and transcripts for all grades (K-6) before enrollment. Have your teacher recommendation form and transcript request sent separately from your application. The confidential teacher recommendation form should be given to your child’s current teacher. They will fill it out and mail or upload to TADS. The transcript release form should be given to your child’s current school administrative office with instructions to mail or upload to TADS.
- Schedule your child’s class visit. For Kindergarten, once we receive your application, an Admissions Committee Member will contact you to register for a Saturday class visit. For Grades 1-6, the Admissions Committee will contact you regarding a date for your child to visit the school. Applicants will be scheduled to visit the classroom while in session for an entire day. Students may be required to visit the classroom more than once.
- Schedule a Parent Visit. FWS is unique in that it is a Cooperative Elementary, and our parents “own” and operate the school. We would like to take the time to further educate prospectives on the Co-op structure and answer any questions that you may have during a private visit with a few members of the Admissions Committee. Once we receive your application, an Admissions Committee Representative will contact you to schedule the visit.
